Light lift off to the right in W/NW for a few climbs back up to launch level, turbulent west in LZ, tiptoe landing.

Blanchard, 13:30 on Sat, 06-Jun-09, Dave Duperon
Wind S/SE at 5-10, sky Cloudy
Duration:  40 min
Max Alt:  600 over
South launch after waiting a while for long enough cycle, still light, crossing from east a bit but small amount of thermal activity brought air up, even a little cross from right. Once up in the air, though, direction was obviously still east-ish. Climbed slowly for first half of flight, decended slowly for 2nd half. Overshot my spot but flaired hard over Tom's driveway for perfect landing.

Woodrat, 15:10 on Sat, 23-May-09, Dave Duperon
Wind W at 10-15, sky blue
Duration:  20 min

Excellent flight! Could have soared all afternoon but wanted to get into the valley flow without getting worn out (2nd flight after surgery). Complementary glass of excellent syrah from LongSword vinyards where we landed topped it of nicely. Life is good...

Longest layoff from flying since I started in 1972. Just 2 other HG's, Mike and Greg. Praise the lift!

Stewart, 15:15 on Sun, 10-May-09, Jimmy
Wind NNW at 15-18, sky Mostly Clear
Duration:  45 min
Max Alt:  3900
A long way up the back side now that the front is closed due to come inconsider-rat f-ing Paraglider pilot zooming down the road. Well the flight was a good thermal one in and out of the clouds...my favorite kind, but it kicked my out of shape butt.

Northside, 2:30 on Sun, 03-May-09, Beck
Wind W at 5, sky Cu
Duration:  4.5 hr
Max Alt:  6,000
Flew all over Whatcom county on this beautiful day full of challenges. Got low at black mt working broken lift when I spotted two eagles sitting in a tree. Dove down and cackled at them and then just followed them to a core going to 6,000'. Flew in soft hail under a street that was threatening to go nimbus and a nice landing in a huge field next to the Mt Baker winery. here Can you find the border in the picture?

Wind W at 5-10, sky Cu's around 10K

Great time at the Beach'N 2009. Flew both days, first flight each day was a sledder, and 2nd each I could've stayed up as long as I wanted. This one just an hour as I launded late, and we needed to drive home. New altitude record for me. I thought it was ~9200, but checking my log at home it was 9452 according to my GPS log. Brrr! Spent just about as much time spiraling down as I did thermalling up! In hindsight I could've gone much further, but I'm still on a falcon... Trying not to push it too much.

Hello everyone. I hope the beach-in was good, Blanchard was not. Dave S and I stop by Joels to do some work, and then we were going flying. well I talk Joel in to driving for us. (ha ha) The flying sucked, but it was sure good to see Joels smiling face back on Blanchard.

Wind W/NW at 10ish, sky Blu/Cu
Duration:  30ish

Blowing good when Ben & I got there but lightened up continuously. Launched W, climbed slowly for about 15 mins then got lower for about 15 minutes, landed toward NW. Nice little flight. Should have been there earlier.

Blanchard, 16:35 on Sun, 15-Mar-09, Beck
Wind W-S-E at 10-20, sky ridge clouds
Duration:  1:00
Max Alt:  3100'
Started out SW and shifted to the south giving us access to the south facing ridge. Cloud rooms and rainbows...I couldn't put my camera down. I finally had enough when I found myself deep and going backwards stuffed on the T2. By the time we landed it had gone really east and started getting nasty. But wow!

Blanchardo, 16:30 on Sun, 15-Mar-09, Jimmy
Wind W-ESE at 15-20+, sky Mstly cldy
Duration:  1:10
Max Alt:  2990'
Well we did it again. Wild Day down south but not so bad up here. It did get squirly later in the flight when Jeff and I started going backward over the mt. Lots of cloud surfing and glory shots. Clouds started forming just over 1600 and again at 2800 for the two layer effect. Rather cold though. Took off to the west, soared in a south, and landed in an ESE.

Blanchard, 12:40 on Sat, 07-Mar-09, Jimmy
Wind WSW at 18-25, sky Cloudy
Duration:  1:05
Max Alt:  3580'
Determined to get a early launch, I arrived at 930 and set up....waiting. Soon others showed up, but it wasn't until 12 or so when the stacks at Anacortes finally bent over in the west wind. The color of the water went dark over there, but we've seen this before when it never got to Blanchard. When the obvious was going to happen, I moved my glider down to the cliff so I wouldn't need assistance, and waited for just a few minutes in almost dead calm conditions and then bam! It hit all at once with a vengeance as TJ said it would....Wow. I was a thousand over in 5 minutes. I played mostly over and near Chukanut in the clouds with Jeff near by. Snow flurries and some sleet to made things interesting. I really wanted to come down before my hour was up but held on shivering till the bitter end. Jeff, Justice, Konrad, Rich, Roger, Ron were there with one or two others. Some one got sucked up into the clouds, got turned around, and landed the other side of Sammish. Word of the day...burrr.

Wind S at 15-20, sky ptly cldy

Had to take half a day off for this weird air day. Wasn't as soar able as it looked, but hey, we got it on a Monday. Joined by Ben, Konrad, Mike Kee, (that's right, Mike is back in the air)and Rich E.

Tiger, 14:00 on Sun, 22-Feb-09, Jimmy
Wind Variable at light, sky partly cloudy
Duration:  ext sledder
Max Alt:  launch
Took the 225 up for what ever I could get on a nice day. We were dropped off at the south launch, a few para gliders got off, but the others went back to the north launch. I was committed to stay put and do a down wind launch...or hike up to the north? NO. Fortunately a small thermal cycle came in just enough to turn the light breeze in to my face. Landed to the north.

Saddle, 12:50 on Mon, 16-Feb-09, Jimmy
Wind North at up to 15, sky cloudy
Duration:  9-15-20
Max Alt:  600' over
Back to Saddle again with brother Chris this time. much lighter conditions with low clouds and fog...at first. For my first flight I iced up rather quickly and was on the ground in nine minutes to scrape off the ice and wait for the light rain to stop. The second flight wasn't much longer and tho my leading edges were clear, the rest of glider had to be scraped off. The third flight was much better without all that ice and I over shot my mark for landing and had to use a bush for a complete stop. 402 mile round trip for me to fly here......uff dah!

Wind N at 18-28, sky ptly cldy

A rather strong day but good for hang gliders. Andrey got his first flight here. Did a few touch and goes then landed so Andrey could see how it's done. One more flight a little later, again trying to show where and how to land.

Eagle Butte, 10:45 on Tue, 17-Feb-09, Jim Pratt
Wind SW at 10-15, sky Clear, Q's
Duration:  1 hour

Launched at 10:45 am and was an easy quick ride up to the clouds forming over launch. Feels like Spring here, I'm ready for more.

Blanchard, 11:00 on Sat, 31-Jan-09, Jimmy
Wind West at 5-18, sky partly cloudy
Duration:  2hrs 1min
Max Alt:  2600'
An early start to a day that turned into quite the soaring flight of the season already. Bill J, brother Chris and I were there set up first, but we were wishing that there was a Para glider to launch first. The wind looked great on the water but didn't really rock the trees all that much, then died off a bit. Beck punched off first and showed us that it was at least lightly soarable, and that's all it took. Soon that sky was full of gliders making their way to cloud base, Chuckanut, and hours of chilly fun. Unfortunately, not all got off the hill safely.

Hey me and Jimmy are flying...Anyone else? A Rare spring day in January with eagles and hawks all skying out. I Got to fight with the first thermals of the year for an extra 3 minutes of airtime.
